Tell the therapist before waxing if you use tretinoin, take antibiotics, currently take isotretinoin or took it within the past six months. The American Academy of Dermatology warns that waxing can tear skin affected by these medicines.
Wax is applied to the booked area and removed to pull out hair. Stop the appointment if the wax feels excessively hot or the skin reaction feels more than expected.
Short-lived redness or irritation can occur after waxing. Follow the area-specific aftercare provided, and seek medical advice for a severe or persistent reaction.
