The ideal event facial is not necessarily the closest one to the event. Skin appreciates time, especially when the treatment or therapist is new to you.
A month or more before
Use this window for a first consultation or unfamiliar treatment. Discuss current products, sensitivity and the result you want. If a treatment does not suit your skin, there is time to return to normal rather than negotiating with concealer at midnight.

About a week before
A familiar, gentle facial may fit here for many people. Exact timing depends on the treatment and your history. Avoid introducing strong home products at the same time.
The final days
Keep cleansing, moisturising and sunscreen familiar. Do not pick blemishes or attempt an emergency peel. Sleep and hydration are less glamorous advice, but photographs are famously unable to capture the price of a serum.
Explore facials and tell the therapist the date and type of event before choosing. If you have active irritation, infection or a medical skin condition, postpone cosmetic treatment and seek appropriate advice.
Good timing creates room for skin to be skin. The goal is to arrive feeling comfortable, not to spend the event wondering whether your forehead is still tingling.
